Pre-K

Heritage Christian Academy offers a wonderful Pre-Kindergarten program. Families can choose between three or five full days. Our State Certified program uses the Bob Jones Press curriculum, blending early phonics, math, Bible time, and guided play. We also include Physical Education and Music classes. This program is a wonderful introduction to the Christ-centered learning at HCA.

Kindergarten

HCA offers a full, five-day Kindergarten program! Our program features the Bob Jones Press curriculum covering phonics-based reading, math, handwriting, and social/science skills. Students also enjoy Chapel, Music, Art, and Physical Education. HCA’s balanced educational approach includes plenty of hands-on learning opportunities, making it a fantastic start for young learners.

Elementary

Our elementary school provides focused learning in small classroom settings using curriculum from Bob Jones University Press, ABeka, and Purposeful Design, with the Bible at the core. We consider every aspect of a child’s development—spiritual, academic, social, and physical. Our Learning Lab also supports students with special needs or academic challenges, fostering efficient thinking and independent learning.

Middle School

Our middle school offers quality instruction in small classrooms using curriculum from Big Ideas Learning, ABeka, and Answers in Genesis. Students also enjoy chapel, art, music, Spanish, computers, and physical education, all grounded in biblical teaching. We tailor lessons for students transitioning to young adulthood, maintaining high standards while allowing room for mistakes. Our Learning Lab supports students with special needs or academic challenges, fostering efficient thinking and independent lifelong learning.

High School

Our high school offers a Christ-centered curriculum with four years of Bible classes and a classic liberal arts education from a Christian perspective. Our dedicated ACSI certified faculty exceed state standards to prepare students for college. We also offer extracurricular activities like trips to the Creation Museum, Ark Encounter, state capitol, History Day competitions, and a vibrant sports program.

Other Educational Resouces

Learning Labs

Learning Labs provide personalized, one-on-one support for students facing significant challenges in the classroom and in life. Our Discovery therapist uses a variety of tailored techniques to improve memory, attention, language, and overall thinking processes. Designed to last 3-5 years, the program aims to retrain the brain for more efficient and independent lifelong learning. Students receive 160 minutes of one-on-one therapy each week.

Educational Therapy
This program offers an extensive “therapeutic” one on one type of intervention, and is designed for students with deficits causing them extreme frustration in the classroom and in life.
The Discovery therapist uses numerous individualized techniques that address memory, attention, language, and support a large scope of thinking processes.  The longevity of  the program, (3-5 years min.), is designed to re-train the brain, so as to enable more efficient and independent learning for life.  This is a 160 min./wk., one-on-one program.

Directed Learning
Directed Learning is a one on one intervention with a personal tutor which takes place in the Learning Lab and involves direct instruction.  This service is recommended for students who are not performing at grade level in one or more academic area(s).  The specific subject areas to be covered and amount of time spent to be spent is determined by administrative staff, in conjunction with teachers/parents, and after thorough evaluation. This is a 5-10 hr./wk. program.

Tutoring
Our tutoring program is for students needing concept support, not involving extensive planning/preparation by the tutor.  Time per week is determined on an individual basis.

Rx for Math
Rx 4 Discovery Math is designed to build and strengthen the student’s number sense, math fluency, math vocabulary, and problem solving strategies.  Rx Math students will be challenged to apply their growing understanding of number sense to novel problem solving activities that challenge thinking and reasoning in a 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4 setting.

Search and Teach
The “Search” is a pre-reader screening tool that is administered to every Kindergarten student in October.  It is an indicator as to whether or not intervention (Teach) could be beneficial, before potential reading issues surface.

The “Teach” part of Search & Teach has many “therapeutic” attributes.  The one-on-one intervention is for early elementary students, beginning in Kindergarten.  This is a 90 min./wk., one-on-one program.

Read Naturally
This program offers 1.0 – 1.5 hours per week of intense, individual, oral reading practice.  Vocabulary work, written story predictions, summaries, and measured comprehension skills are also a part of the process.  Students in the 1st-8th grades are given this opportunity if, through the pre-screening process, their scores indicate that intervention is needed.

Academic Coaching
This program is a comprehensive tutoring support option and involves extensive planning/preparation by the tutor, on behalf of the student, to include either accommodation and/or modification development as well as continuous collaboration with the student’s teachers.  Time per week is determined on an individual basis.

Sensory Support Services
Centered within a specially equipped Sensory Room, this service provides one-on-one support for students who struggle with dysregulation and focus in the school setting. A variety of techniques and approaches, tailored to the individual needs and situations, are used from a Trust-Based Relational Intervention framework including physical movement, sensory activities (swings, Play-Doh, nature sounds, etc), and Animal-Assisted Intervention with Oaken, HCA’s Therapy Dog. With each session, the goal is enabling students to re-enter the classroom setting in a regulated state where they can engage successfully.

Education in Action

Education in Action (EiA) brings the traditional apprenticeship and classroom models to life by guiding students through real-world business scenarios. EiA gives students the chance to explore career interests and achieve their goals. Whether they enter the workforce, pursue further education, or receive additional training, students will gain valuable real-world skills that employers seek.
