We Pray, Are We Ready For the Way…

Praying Through Challenges

June 19th, 2024

“They did not ask, ‘Where is the Lord, who brought us up out of Egypt and led us through the barren wilderness, through a land of deserts and ravines, a land of drought and utter darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?'”
Jeremiah 2:6

We pray, are we ready for the way…

Getting somewhere of significance will have challenges. These are not trips to the store, the local golf course, or even your favorite local fishing spot. Building the concepts of these significant destinations are difficult. Getting to a place like this begins and ends in prayer. We take the destination in mind and lay it at the feet of the Lord in prayer and ask for Him to make a way. After this prayer, we are faced with conflict.

The car breaks down, a loved one gets very sick, the plan we design fails, or we get fired….In these places it seems like there is no way. It seems like we are in a wilderness, in a land of deserts and pits, a land of drought and even deep darkness. These places we find ourselves in feel like we’ve gone where no one has crossed and where no one has ever dwelt. It is here that our heart begins to break and we cry out, “Lord! I am asking for this door to be opened, this plan to work. Please tell me why all this is happening?”

If in our brokenness we stop and listen, there will be a response. The Lord will answer gently but firmly, “You’re almost there. I’m so proud of you for wanting to go there. No one has gone there because the way is so hard, but you asked to get there. Hang on, you’re almost there.”

We pray, are we ready for the way…

I am filled with so much excitement at how successful this last school year has been at HCA. We have seen great things from our students on all levels of achievement, and I have seen our students impact our community in so many positive ways. The innovative Education in Action (EiA) program continues to expand and blossom in the first business of a Greenhouse. We are putting together a full report of the greenhouse’s success.

All of this success has not happened overnight. In fact, this idea has been in the woks for nine years. Recently I reviewed my prayer journals and saw the beginning prayer for what has become EiA. I had no idea what the road would be like to get here, but I also would not change a thing. It has not been easy but the Lord has used it all to make EiA what it is today.

Please join me this summer and lift your prayers high for HCA. Let’s pray, and together let’s see the way the Lord will take us. I hope all your trips are blessed this summer and that the Lord’s face shines on you richly. God bless you!
